If Recovery Mode was successful, reboot your MacBook, and it should start normally. If this action works, you should see the macOS utility screen.
To boot into Recovery Mode, press the Command + R keyboard combination. Interesting to note, when battery is disconnected and magsafe is plugged in, light on adapter goes orange to indicate charging rather than staying green indicating no battery or full battery. Disconnected the battery, held down the power button to discharge it, reconnected battery, no boot. Opened it up, doesn't appear to be any liquid, some pet (I hope) hair. Still does not boot, but indicates keyboard input is working. Reset SMC, magsafe changes from orange to green for a second, then back to orange.
Magsafe is green when first plugged in, then goes orange, stays orange despite being plugged in over 24 hours. This is one a user brought in from home, no Apple care.
